Escape from Exmouth in a Wicked Camper Van |
|
Ningaloo Reef, Exmouth and Broome
After 5 days relaxing, snorkelling and swimming on Ningaloo Reef we finally decided to move on. Back to Exmouth, we had a cold shower and went shopping for our next adventure... The Kariyni National Park
As usual we started early in our campervan to escape the midday sun which can be unbearable if you're trying to sleep in (even without a hangover!).
First stop was the Nanutarra Roadhouse at Ashburton River. We crossed the River bridge and thought there was a shitload of water in this little river, and the roadhouse lady told us why: A cyclone had hit the bridge just before Paraburdoo, which was our road. So what a disgrace, we couldn't get that road and the other road was for 4wd only!
Quick, quick... we needed a new plan. OK, follow the coastline, more beaches, sand and shells. But first we wanted to see the old Onslow Historic Ruin, so we headed off...
After 100kms driving we found out the hard wat that this bridge was closed as well! After a day like this we couldn't drive any further and booked into a room in Onslow.
