"I've really enjoyed the way there seems to be a connection between everyone who drives a Wicked Camper – it's always a conversation starter, people toot their horn on the road and we often get people asking us for directions. I think it's pretty funny – we often don't have a clue where we are either!"

Hippy Camper Happiness in Byron Bay
BodyText "

Just got back to Brisbane from Byron Bay after a weekend of hippy happiness, floaty dresses, and whale music. Arrived on Friday in our very own hippie campervan courtesy of Wicked Campers (it had a giant dog on it so got lots of attention down the motorway). It decided to rain, well it was more like a monsoon really and to save ourselves from drowning or floating into the sea we parked up by the side of the road, played cards, got pissed and ate peanut butter sandwiches...

We stayed here until 6am when we were given the verbal finger by a camper van Nazi so drove down to a pretty campsite by the beach. Couldn’t swim as i lost my bikini in the back of the van somehow (?!) We stumbled upon ""The Byron bay peace festival"" in a field near where we were staying and to my horror they were playing death metal which sounded like someone was strangling a salamanda...not very peaceful at all I thought?! With this noise blaring out - not to mention the human beat box girl who I’m pretty sure wasn’t fully human and the Byron bay massive who joined in with the band by performing ninja type moves on each other as a strange form of dance I have never come across before I decided to check out the nice peaceful stalls where I found a nice man who sold organic sugar cane juice - how exciting! (I was sold on the organic bit so decided to buy some. It was very sweet).

It wasn’t all like this of course, a man who resembled Jesus sang songs later with a guitar and some aborigines with yellow nappies on did some tribal dance whilst whales were projected onto a wide screen - it was all very surreal but i liked it a lot!!

So, that's it for my tree hugging weekend of hippie campervan rental and now I’m back in Brisbane where i drink tea not sugar cane juice and my name is Gemma again, not Cosmo....

Fellow hippies,
Peace out

P.S. We're thinking we might hire another Wicked Camper soon to tour from Cairns all the way down to Sydney!!
