The Great Ocean Road is 243 kilometres of awesomeness situated between Torquay and Warnambool on Victoria’s South-West Coast! Following the coast for the majority of the drive, the Great Ocean Road is best seen in a hire camper or car - a tour bus will only make you cry!

Park your Wicked Camper in sexy little towns like: Lorne, Apollo Bay, Torquay, Anglesea and Port Campbell and chill out, swim, hike, drink, eat, puke...whatever you like!

Day 1:

Pickup your campervan at our Melbourne Depot in West Footscray. We’re conveniently located on the Princes Hwy - so all you gotta do is jump in your hire van or car and get down there! Head straight on through Geelong to Bells Beach and check the waves (1 hour). If you’re up for a party or a few drinks in town, Lorne is a great little place to spend your first night in your Wicked Camper. There’s heaps of young, sexy people around here and you’ll probably feel like you’ve stepped into a colder version of Home and Away...

There’s also supermarket in town and a bottle shop - so don’t panic

Day 2:

Wake up early if you can and go for a swim - seriously! The water’s a bit fresh, but damn it is nice! The road from here literally bends and twists around the cliffs and follows the ocean. There’s heaps of spots to stop and take pics and pick the blackberries that grow along the roadside. Keep cruising and checkout Apollo Bay. It’s a typical seaside town - fish and chips everywhere and happy, friendly people going about their day. During Summer this whole stretch can get busy, but for the rest of the year - you’ll have it mostly to yourself. Next you’ll enter Cape Otway National Park so look up and around for Koalas - there’s heaps of the bastards (but you gotta keep your eyes on the gum trees!!!).

The road goes inland for a little while (35kms or so) so you get some time to see the cows and horses and stuff. I find farm animals particularly sexy - you may not, that’s cool. Get your Wicked Camper through this little bit and you’ll pop out at Port Campbell - and the 12 Apostles. It should be after lunch now or nearing sunset - perfect time to checkout the sandstone cliff formations that litter this coast like the golden poo of the Gods. I could go on about all the shit around here - but you’re best to hire a campervan or hitchhike or whatever and see this golden poo with your own fresh eyeballs.

If you don’t wanna sleep around Port Campbell then keep haulin’ ass towards Warnambool. The town‘s a bit shit - kind of like another small beach town. There’s a cool pool hall along the main drag and a few bars though. The Warnambool Beach Backpackers (17 Stanley St.) offer a really sweet deal to Wicked Campervan hire people - something like $10-12 bucks a night and you can camp in their yard and use their kitchen, internet, showers and stuff. Even better yet - push that sexy campervan a little further and stay at Port Fairy. It’s a pretty little seaside town - super quiet and mellow like a stoned koala.

Day 3:

Alright - so you’ve done the Great Ocean Road - here’s the bonus section. Wake up early and get going towards Hamilton and the Grampians National Park. This area is a natural goldmine - waterfalls, trees - all sorts of sweet shit! If you’re not too hungover, then try a bit of hiking and rock climbing around Halls Gap and the Wartook Valley. It’s a beautiful area of Australia to cruise in a colourful, crazy hire car or camper - I definitely recommend coming back this way.

When you’re done looking at all the nature stuff in the Grampians, head beack east towards Melbourne. Along the way are iconic goldmine towns like Ararat and Ballarat (hah that rhymes?!). It’s about 200kms from Ararat to Melbourne, so make sure you give yourself enough time to drop the Wicked hire car or campervan off by 4pm. No sweat though if you can’t make it in time - just give us a quick call and let us know you’ll be late - you can drop the van off and leave the car or campervan keys in our after hours box!

Sexy Weekend or weekday escape - this little campervan trip is a MUST-DO for all visitors to OZ and peoples who also live in OZ!
