When driving on the road to cairns (just after airlie beach), we were passing truckers and getting them to pull their horns, it was a real laugh until we overtook the 4th truck, little did we know there was a cop car coming the other direction, we ended up with a 200 dollar fine which meant pot noodles and beans and toast for a fair few days. we laughed about it for days, i mean we hadnt seen a cop car for days, what were the odds!
Due to your 'weedy' decoration and slogan ( Don't drink and drive - smoke pot and fly ! ) of the van we got into contact with all sorts of people. We had to disappoint several of them as they had hoped to be able to buy some of our extra supply. Anyway it was always a nice chat .
When we were camping out in Nelson we were just hanging outside the van enjoying the evening. Just before the sun went down a wallaby came right up to our van to say hello! He got so close I thought he was going to jump right in and continue the rest of the trip with us! It was really cool.
We went to Penola/ Coonawarra and had an absolute ball. One of us has never been seen drunk before and got so drunk she fell out of the last cellar door (much to the amusement of the staff there) after getting great advice on where to go for the biggest and best valued dinner in the area. Thumbs up to Penola and Koonara (although we'd rather it if they DIDN'T have two steps to fall out of!). From
Everywhere we went, everyone complimented us on the design of our bus. It is the Prolude de fornication one with sexual 'note' positions. Great fun.
An emu/ ostrich ran allong with our camper, at the speed of 50km/hr there was a little fence to mark the end of the ackre (?). The poor bird fell down with his legs up like in a cartoon...we could see the stars circling above his head...fortunatly he stood up pretty soon after it...we believe. Unfortunatly we didn't tape it, so a couple of days later (on our way back to the highway) we got back to that place, but the emu/ostrich was nowhere to be found.
I really wanted to rent one because as a graphic designer I love the idea to travel with a "styling" van that can give a special spirit during the road trip and that's what happened when you meet some other guy one the road who have one, you feel like beeing in a special family, very cool and Free!
The best part of our trip with the wicked van was one morning in byron bay when we woke up before sunrise and found a road towards the beach, but like on the countryside. We parked the car and all of a sudden we saw a lot of kangaroos!!They were the first one I had ever seen!!The morning was lovely with the sun rising, the colours, the wonderful scents from the flowers and trees...just an amazing morning!!
