Wicked Van to Edinburgh

On the way back from Munich I spent 18 hours on a bus with Lana, Michaela, and Toni-Louise talking about music, food and poo......... and not necessarily in that order...Every now and then the conversation strayed away from those topics, and one such time we strayed onto the topic of wicked vans. I explained How to get from Brisbane to Melbourne in 14 Days and they seemed to like the idea of road trips....... but who doesn't...I suggested a trip through Europe in one of the vans and the girls were all over the idea like a fat kid on a smarty.

Wicked Campers

Wicked Campers is a company that rents out modified VW (and similar) vans as campers, mainly to backpackers. They are more known for their elaborate graffiti paint jobs and interesting quotes on the sides of the vans then they are for a good night's sleep. We passed this van on the way to the Seafood Festival. As we walked by it, a little boy walking with his dad asked, "Daddy what does that van say?" He replied, "The same thing I said to your mom 5 years ago." Nice!

gestern sind wir von unserem Trip mit dem Wicked Camper zurueckgekommen. Wie ich ja schon geschrieben hatte, hatten wir fuer den Midsemesterbreak einen Wicked Camper gemietet um damit in die Blue Mountains, zu den Jenolan Caves und nach Byron zu fahren. Wicked Campers sind hier in Australien grade unter den Backpackern und jungen Leuten sehr beliebt weil sie einfach eine guenstige Reisemoeglichkeit darstellen (www.wickedcampers.com) .Wir hatten den guenstigsten Camper gebucht, ohne aircon, Servolenkung und Automatik-das Ganze fuer 30 AUD pro Tag. Um so groesser war dann die Freude als man uns beim Abholen erklaerte dass wir ein upgrade zum teuersten Camper (dem 4 WD Outback) mit Servolenkung, aircon und Automatik bekommen hatten. Der Camper entpuppte sich dann als Mitsubishi Monster Truck, war ein ganz neues Gefuehl so hoch zu sitzen. Wicked Campers sind alle zu einem bestimmten Thema bemalt, unserer hiess KISS Chris, warum koennt ihr ja auf dem Foto sehen

Road Trip End

They discovered that 2 Wicked Campervans had a pitch that could fit a 3rd one in. Once I?d dried myself off I approached the guys on the site. They were 6 Ozzie students who were on a 2 week road tip across the north coast from Cairns to Darwin, although they were actually from Newcastle in NSW. They were delighted to have a 3rd van join them, and we had a good laugh through the night. Well?I say ?we?, but Magali and Moritz didn?t say a word the whole time. Moritz was playing the jealous boyfriend of Magali, even though he isn?t actually her boy friend...

21st september, hanging out around melbourne. Ramsey Street

Had a nice lay in today, againt i don't think there is much we wanted to do actually around melbourne and there is no point going into the city centre where most of the attractions are, because we are gonna to be staying in the centre after today, as we have to take samantha (sorry maybe i didn't say that was the name of the camper) back to wicked campers tomorrow...so got to give samantha back tomorrow, she has done us proud, never had any problems, never hit a kangaroo or anything.
