After talking to a few people about the trip and the costs I thought I'd break it down and give an overview to what you'd expect to pay for this type of adventure...It's broken up into 4 different types of expenses. Ambiance, Surfing, Accommodation and Driving. You should note that this has not covered... I didn't have to pay accommodation while at the festival though, and I also parked the car and slept in a few car parks, but then that's all part of the whole experience...You should also make note that the Wicked Van hire will change depending on the time of year. I traveled during the shoulder and peak seasons, but it's much cheaper in the off season...

So when reviewing the break up it comes to:

• Flights: $412.00
• Driving: $1742.95
• Accommodation: $128.00
• Ambiance: $272.95
• Surfing: $1132.85
• Total: $3688.75

Was it worth it? It was worth twice that much!

Have you spotted any nomads in a Wicked Camper, each with a unique design? Travel to the "top end" or the "long paddock" would be all the more eventful because of cyclonic flooding (in far north Queensland, home of the "banana benders") What's more, banana (find quaint animation ) supplies maybe jeopardized again!....April onwards is a super time to travel north. Toyota vans could be recommended as largely indestructible; the going may be flat but the distances are immense hence fuel economy is another factor so the small car has something going for it; all the major roads are sealed - are there any real frontiers left?

The Dream Becomes a Reality

Could it be that I will achieve what I was setting out to do?..Well not entirely, but it's a start at least...Today I booked my flights to Brisbane for the 8th December. Once I arrive it'll be a quick train ride into the Vally where I pick up my Wicked Van and start my journey to Melbourne...I've hired the van from 9-23 December, giving me 2 weeks of coast line, sun and surf...I've got the wave finder out and along with google maps and mapquest I'll begin to plot my course down the east coast and to the bottom of Australia...I am very excited.
