Thinking of travelling the east coast from Cairns to Sydney? Alex and his pals have, check out their wicked adventure…in a wicked camper!

“It’s taken us a month to complete but we’ve finally driven the east coast from Cairns to Sydney, about 2,500 kilometres, one hell of a drive!

We left Brisbane and headed down to Surfers Paridise where we managed to park up and stay on the beachfront for a couple of nights. The beach that runs down the main part of surfers is fantastic although the waves are huge with lots of rip currents, high rise buildings also tower over which is completely different to up north. After some nights out in surfers, we headed further down, stopping at the small town of Nimbin.

Before we arrived, we were told Nimbin was the hippie capital of Australia and it certainly lives up to its reputation. Its almost like stepping back into the 60′s, with hendrix, marley, VW campers and lots of chilling. As cool as it was, we refused to stay at another campsite we decided to crack on to Byron Bay to get some surfing in.

Renting surf boards for two days was brilliant in Byron, the waves were not as suicidal as Surfers Paridise! Due to Byron’s tough camping laws, we parked up out of town along with some other cool people in Wicked campers. Surfing by day and drinking games by night is definately something I could get used to! We even shared our public loos with a huge huntsman spider, of which we managed to catch.. welcome to Australia!

In sydney we stayed with really good family friends the Chamberlains and had a wicked few days that flew by, hopefully our family will be able to come out to Sydney in the near future.. (dropping a few hints for the parents). So after some great days and nights out and about in great company, we caught a flight to Queenstown, New Zealand. Sad to leave Australia but looking forward to plenty of extreme sports in kiwi land, bring on the Skydive!”

Nice one guys :)

Roadtrip – Sydney to Brisbane

Picture 258

Here’s a plan we put together for those planning a road trip from Sydney to Brisbane!

DAY 1

Sydney to Newcastle: This is the first day of your Wicked Convoy from Sydney to Brisbane. Please ensure that you pick your van up from the depot (Gate 407 George Street, Waterloo, NSW 2017) in the morning and then it is time to drive to your first stop Newcastle, one of the larger cities on the east coast of Australia!

DAY 2

Sydney to Port Macquarie: Today is a drive from Newcastle to Port Macquarie. It isn’t a particularly long drive but you may be feeling the effects of the previous night so a nice chilled out day on the beaches of Port Macquarie could be in order here.

DAY 3

Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour: Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour. With it’s beautiful beaches and sublime flora and fauna, Coffs Harbour would be an excellent opportunity for you to have a dip in the ocean. You could even go for a surf depending on how you feel!

DAY 4

Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay: Coffs Harbour to Byron Bay is next on the agenda in your Wicked Convoy. Byron is arguably one of the most beautiful places on the east coast of Australia and with pristine beaches and heaps of places to eat and drink, this is sure to be one of the most amazing nights of your convoy!

DAY 5

Byron Bay to Surfer’s Paradise: The next and final day of your convoy will be spent in Surfer’s Paradise. Surfer’s is home to some of the world famous Gold Coat models whom many a man has drooled over and many a women envied. The night life in Surfer’s is electric and there is always somewhere to go, something to do and great places to eat and drink. All in all, a Wicked last night of your convoy!

DAY 6

Surfer’s Paradise to Brisbane: The (depressing) last day of your convoy will involve the very short drive from Surfer’s up to Brisbane. Please ensure that you drop your van off by 2pm at the depot located on 79 McLachlan Street, Fortitude Valley, QLD.
